Mary Ellen’s Story.

My personal experiences and professional training have led me to my work with women, mothers, and couples. I have been in private practice since 2023, providing compassionate, client centered care to women all over Colorado. Prior to opening my own practice, I worked in community mental health, group practice, and school based settings. I have received maternal mental health training and advanced clinical training from Postpartum Support International. I have extensive education and training in various evidence based practices which have also been proven to be effective when treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, such as: Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Over the course of my career, I have partnered with girls, preteens, adolescents, and women facing difficult life transitions, mood disorders, mental illness, relationship challenges, and parenting roadblocks.

I have a passion for helping women navigate challenging life transitions that arise with becoming a mother. Utilizing evidence based perinatal mental health modalities including interpersonal psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic based practices, attachment theory, as well as mindfulness and emotional regulation techniques, we can work together to make this special time a healthy and nurturing stage in a woman's life. I wholeheartedly believe maternal mental health and wellness should be a priority for all women and their families.

My Approach

I work from a mix of relational, systemic, and person-in-environment lens. Informed by my education primarily in emotionally focused therapy, somatic based modalities, perinatal mood disorders, DBT, mindfulness, and the Gottman method — I help both my individual clients and couples who feel anxious, depressed, and stuck examine what isn’t working in order to create lasting change.

My hope is to work collaboratively with you to identify goals and create an effective plan together that cultivates a more graceful, joyful, and confident self and relationship with others.
